Despite bad review, Salman Khan's Sikandar movie crosses ₹169 crore in 5 days

Salman Khan’s much-hyped Eid release Sikandar may have drawn mixed reviews, but the box office tells a different story. The AR Murugadoss directorial has collected ₹169.78 crore worldwide within just five days of release, solidifying its place as the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of 2025 so far.

According to data from Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, Sikandar earned ₹8.28 crore gross from India and ₹3 crore gross overseas on its fifth day. While the numbers have dipped compared to the opening weekend, the film is expected to surpass the ₹200-crore milestone by Monday.

The action-drama, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, and Sathyaraj, has outpaced Tamil sleeper hit Dragon, which ended its run with ₹150 crore worldwide. Despite a sluggish opening and lukewarm critical reception, Sikandar has managed to stay afloat due to Salman Khan’s star power and festive release timing.

However, it still trails behind blockbusters like L2: Empuraan, Chhaava, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, and Game Changer. The Mohanlal-starrer L2: Empuraan, which released just three days earlier, has already surged past ₹250 crore globally, setting a steep benchmark.

Critics have pointed out that Sikandar suffers from a predictable plot and uneven pacing, which could limit its long-term performance. Nevertheless, the film’s current momentum may help it cross Game Changer’s earnings by the end of the weekend, boosting its rank.

Directed by AR Murugadoss and featuring a large ensemble cast including Sharman Joshi and Prateik Smita Patil, Sikandar may not be a critical darling, but it continues to make its mark commercially.
